Financial Clearance Specialist PRN As Needed. This position works on an as needed basis during the week (Monday-Friday). Part time, day shift. Remote (work from home) with required in-person training in Boise, ID. PRN position is not eligible for benefits. Position Purpose

Saint Alphonsus Health System is hiring for our Financial Clearance team. The Financial Clearance Specialist obtains and/or verifies demographic, clinical, financial and insurance information in the process of pre-registering and financially clearing patients for service delivery, including the entry of patient/guarantor information in the patient accounting system. The Pre-Service Specialist is also responsible for insurance eligibility / benefit verification, pre-certification / authorization, referral clearance and financial education on designated cases. What You Will Do

Work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles. Excellent problem-solving skills are essential. Authenticate patient identity throughout essential functions to ensure patient safety. Meet or exceed established customer service, productivity and quality standards in all essential functions. Maintain working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations and Trinity Health standards to ensure adherence. Perform activities related to pre-registration and financial clearance for multiple patient types and support coverage of other departmental divisions. Pre-register patients for upcoming visits; validate, obtain and enter demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information into the patient accounting system. Perform insurance eligibility/benefit verification using various mechanisms and document information in the patient accounting system. Determine need for appropriate service authorizations and coordinate with physicians and Case Management/Utilization Review personnel as necessary. Inform patients/guarantors of liabilities and collect appropriate patient liabilities. Provide financial education and refer to financial counseling as required. Validate medical necessity (LCD/NCD review) for Medicare and Non-Medicare cases to ensure clinical and financial clearance. Provide relief support or training to departmental personnel as workload demands; may serve as a resource to train new employees. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and use a telephone headset. Basic computer skills and working knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational abilities; comfortable working in a collaborative, shared leadership environment. Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Highly desired: At least 2 years in healthcare and/or payer environment performing patient access and/or customer service activities. National certification in HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one year of hire. Preferred: Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Data entry skills (50-60 keystrokes per minute). Position Highlights And Benefits
