Material Handler - Heavy Forklift
Job Description
Seeking a dedicated material handler to operate a large forklift, tasked with moving materials from rail cars in the yard into the shop. The yard features an inactive railcar line from a former setup. The role involves loading and unloading materials from trucks and moving them throughout the facility. The materials handled, such as large shell plates, pipes, I-beams, and flat bars, are notably heavy. Additionally, the role includes performing shipping and receiving tasks, documentation, and stenciling materials once unloaded. Must have good job tenure, provide a resume, shop work, no field experience this is a full time position in a production shop.
Responsibilities
Operate a large forklift to move materials from rail cars to the shop.
Load and unload materials from trucks.
Transport heavy materials such as shell plates, pipes, I-beams, and flat bars within the facility.
Perform shipping and receiving duties and maintain accurate documentation.
Stencil materials upon unloading.
Essential Skills
5+ years of experience as a material handler.
Proven experience handling large, long, and heavy materials.
Expertise in operating large forklifts (such as Big Red or Hyster models).
Experience with overhead cranes.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract‑to‑Hire position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
