Position Overview The Veterans Outreach Specialist’s main purpose is to engage and re‑engage members of the Veteran and/or military community in need of Primary Care, Mental Health, or Substance Use Treatment into services. The role focuses on delivering outreach services in a Trauma‑Informed, Recovery‑Focused manner, in line with each individual’s treatment plan. This is a safety‑sensitive position that may include driving and other duties that could affect safety, health or reputation.
Schedule This position's schedule will be 4 days a week from 11 AM to 9 PM.

Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in behavioral health or a related field
Must be 21 years of age or older
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and reliable transportation
Certification in first aid, CPR, and crisis de‑escalation (training will be provided if not currently active)
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Availability of a telephone for easy agency contact
Typing skills and working knowledge of computers and electronic clinical records
Must obtain and maintain a fingerprint clearance card and current background check clearance
Current Tuberculosis screening test and evidence of freedom from infectious tuberculosis prior to providing services; additional TB testing or screening will be performed annually
Physical, mental, and cognitive ability to perform required tasks without posing a direct threat to patient safety and security
Mental & Emotional
Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to positively interact and develop rapport with mentally ill participants, their families, and professional and support staff at all levels of community agencies
Maintain a calm, non‑defensive, supportive attitude during crisis or potential crisis situations
Physical
Long periods of sitting, ability to bend, lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Operate phone, fax, copier, and a computer
Fully ambulatory and able to assist participants
Operate an agency vehicle
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual – English/Spanish
Former service member or close family relation of a service member
Experience or knowledge of the armed forces and understanding of services available to veterans and families
Experience working in integrated healthcare (primary/behavioral health)
Advanced knowledge of cultural diversity and sensitivity
Knowledge of community resources
