Summary:
Performs basic repairs on tractors and trailers. Assists the Maintenance Technician II and III with repairs and troubleshooting.
Qualifications & Requirements:
1 year or less at Liberty or related industry experience.
Basic understanding of engines, transmissions and their theories.
Can perform PM services with little to no instruction.
Must possess basic tool set.
Possesses general knowledge of electrical circuits.
Training & Cross-Training:
All training must be signed off by the appropriate leadership; a coworker referral must score a minimum of 25 out of 30.
An 90% score on a progression test after 6 months of service is required.
Requires guidance and training for advanced tasks.
Current Liberty employees must not have received any write‑ups within the past year.
Training Courses:
New Hire Origination and PEC Training
Hydraulic Training Course
Air Brake Training Course
Wheel Bearing Training Course
Cross‑Training:
Parts Department – 2 days of training within the first month, signed off by Maintenance and Parts Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:
Follow all safety regulations and standards.
Explain PM schedules and fluid types for engines, transmissions, power ends, drive boxes, and small engines.
Identify all greasing points in PM services.
Check U‑joints and determine if replacement is needed.
Know basic equipment – battery disconnect, power up/down, starting procedures.
Understand power take‑off on a tractor.
Know hydraulic system key points and potential failures.
Check fluid levels after PM service and identify components checked.
Identify Liberty equipment by name.
Understand unit‑mounted tools for PM (e.g., fuel priming pump).
Complete all required paperwork.
Read manual gauges and interpret readings.
Use a multimeter to check voltage and resistance.
Other duties may be added as needed.
Working Conditions / Environment:
Outdoor and indoor, safety‑conscious environment.
Exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise.
Salary:
$26–$48/hr (depending on qualifications, skills, and experience).
