$45.00 -$60.00 hourly Company Introduction This role is with a respected contractor that builds, maintains, and upgrades high-voltage transmission lines for major utilities across the region. Their crews are known for strong safety practices, technical excellence, and dependable performance in demanding outdoor environments. The work directly supports grid reliability and long-term infrastructure improvement. Role Overview Were looking for an experienced Transmission Technician/Lineman to support overhead transmission construction and maintenance. The job involves climbing, operating heavy equipment, installing transmission components, and working on energized systems when qualified. Individuals who enjoy physical, hands-on work and fast-moving field conditions will thrive here. Experienced workers may also share knowledge with less-tenured team members and help maintain strong crew performance. Core Responsibilities Construct, repair, and maintain overhead transmission structures and hardware Install conductor, OPGW, shield wire, and associated components Assist with framing, assembling, and positioning steel poles and H-frame structures Climb poles and towers using approved fall-protection systems Apply proper grounding, PPE, and clearance procedures Operate cranes, digger derricks, and other transmission equipment Troubleshoot issues on high-voltage systems when trained/authorized Review work packets, staking sheets, and related drawings Maintain tools, trucks, and climbing gear Support training and development of junior crew members Travel to various job sites and assist during storm response Work outdoors in all weather, at height, and in physically demanding conditions Participate in overtime, on-call rotations, and extended restoration periods Required Background Background in transmission line construction or maintenance Journeyman-level knowledge or equivalent field experience High school diploma/GED or technical training Valid drivers license (CDL preferred) Ability to climb tall structures and lift 50+ lbs Understanding of grounding, induction, phasing, and protection principles Familiarity with OSHA rules, fall-protection, and LOTO procedures Ability to read drawings, schematics, and work instructions Willingness to travel, work overtime, and assist during emergencies Additional training such as First Aid/CPR, rigging, or signal person is a plus Experience with energized work or substation tie-ins is beneficial Prior mentorship or lead-worker experience is valued Competitive salary based on experience Medical, dental, and vision insurance Company-paid life and long-term disability coverage 401(k) with employer match Paid holidays and PTO Ongoing high-voltage training and skills development Phone reimbursement or company-issued device Travel pay and per diem when working away from home
