Primary Job Functions
Verify the Audiologist has reviewed the hearing aid for programming; verify patients picking up hearing aids and whether they need an appointment for fitting.
Perform hearing aid orientation, including basic care and use of the hearing aid (insertion, removal, volume adjustment, etc.).
Demonstrate and sell Assistive Listening Devices (ALD’s), batteries, and other special products.
Receive and verify hearing aid orders, ensure hearing aids are working correctly, program hearing aids to specifications in NOAH, enter serial numbers in CounselEAR, log receipt dates into patient charts, and complete purchase agreements, fit forms, and fit cases.
Verify hearing aid invoices: check manufacturer invoices for correct charges, credits and warranties; copy invoices for billing to ensure payment; complete paperwork for returned hearing aids.
Perform sound checks of hearing aids, verifying they are in working order.
Track used hearing aids available for purchase and any hearing aids available for loan.
Perform EAC, FIT, balance testing, or other appointments upon request of the Audiologist.
Room patients according to procedure: select appropriate hearing aid cords and plug them in; clean rooms between patients; verify supplies in rooms; apply cleaning tips for penlights and tympanometry; shut down all equipment in booth, fitting, lab, and diagnostics rooms and verify all rooms are clean at the end of the day.
Send copies of audios and letters to new patients, ABR/VNG/APD patients.
Perform support duties for FOS, including filing charts as needed.
Ensure audio and letters are sent to the Financial Controller/Biller when prior authorization is required for hearing aids.
Assist with training and mentoring externs.
Verify all manufacturer software for NOAH and computers is up to date and the most current; set up weekly provider and staff meetings and create detailed instructions for other staff when absent.
Perform front office/desk duties on an as‑needed basis.
Complete basic paperwork such as repair forms, purchase agreements, warranty information, chart, and SYCLE documentation.
Maintain an inventory of clinical supplies.
Assist customers with exchanges or returns as needed.
Provide excellent customer service and maintain good public relations.
Follow safety and infection control protocols; adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
Conduct daily check‑ins with the Audiologist to discuss the week’s plan for patients.
Schedule CEU for the Audiologist and maintain and track CEU.
Maintain and track license renewals and memberships.
