Job Overview Fairview is looking for a Lead Medical Assistant to join our team in Eagan, MN. This position is approved for 80 hours every two weeks and is a benefit‑eligible position. It also qualifies for up to a $2000 New Hire Sign‑on Bonus. The role requires working day/evening shifts and every other weekend.

As a member of the care team, the Lead Medical Assistant supports quality, patient‑ and family‑centered care principles by performing a variety of high‑level functions. The assistant gathers information and documents to support patient visits, adheres to all policies, procedures, and practice guidelines, promotes teamwork with the healthcare team, maintains complete, timely, and accurate clinical documentation, and continually looks for opportunities to improve processes and workflow. The Lead Medical Assistant serves as the “go‑to” person for communication, coordination, training, orientation, and department assimilation, encourages and motivates the team for immediate problem resolution, and fosters a collaborative and helpful team environment.

Responsibilities

Coordinates daily activities of the work team to ensure patient needs are met.

Assists with arranging immediate coverage for sick calls and assigns breaks.

Monitors daily work assignments and adjusts assignments to meet departmental requirements.

Refers standards of practice issues to supervisor for resolution.

Responds to and helps resolve operational issues, including provider issues.

Ensures adequate inventory of supplies is maintained by serving as liaison to the supply chain.

Coordinates staff orientation and training. Provides education, training, and orientation to new and existing staff.

Participates in interview process.

Provides observations and assists with testing for competency regarding performance, conduct, and behavior for performance management.

Maintains confidentiality.

Promotes team environment within the department, other site departments, and other clinics.

Serves as a clinic representative at peer group or other meetings as assigned.

Attends clinic meetings and communicates appropriate information to others.

Leads by example.

Problem solving and project work.

Provides motivation and encouragement to employees.

Serves as mentor within the department.

Supports organizational initiatives.

Supports a safe work environment.

Ensures safety policies and practices are maintained.

May serve as Infection Control or Safety Liaison.

Ensures equipment is in working order and quality control logs are completed as needed.

May assist in patient feedback or concerns by investigating issues.

Required Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or LPN.

Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

2–3 years of experience in the functional area.
