Overview
This role is the Surgical Technician Coordinator – Certified, responsible for the instruments and equipment used during surgical procedures and for maintaining a sterile field. The CVOR team handles instrument preparation, processing, and arrangement for surgical procedures within the department. The Surgical Technician Coordinator – Certified demonstrates competency in the use of equipment and instruments for all surgical procedures performed within the department. Up to $10,000 Sign on Bonus Work Location: UHealth Tower Responsibilities
Functions as a member of the surgical team in the role of the scrub person. The Surgical Technologist in the first scrub role handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and maintains the sterile field. Demonstrates advanced-level critical thinking and problem solving. Demonstrates knowledge of various surgical equipment, advanced instrumentation, and modalities. Demonstrates expert practice in the first scrub role in advanced surgical procedures. Serves as a Surgical Technologist Coordinator as needed. Performs the preceptor role in training students and onboarding new-hires surgical techs. Reviews operational information related to efficiency and productivity targets (e.g., FCOTS and Turn Around Time). Education:
High School diploma or equivalent Certification and Licensing:
Certification in relevant specialty or field BLS Experience:
CVOR Experience; Minimum 1 year of relevant experience Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes: Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
