Construction Inspector

Job Overview The Construction Inspector partners with project stakeholders to manage quality and performance of construction projects within the energy and utilities organization. The role reports directly to the Construction Manager and oversees substation and/or transmission line construction projects, performing daily on‑site inspections to verify work complies with approved drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Verify contractor adherence to client‑approved construction methods, equipment, standards, workmanship, quantity and quality of materials.
Report deviations from client standards verbally and in writing.
Conduct non‑structural construction inspections, constructability reviews, and review construction drawings and specifications.
Document location of installed facilities via as‑built drawings and prepare supporting documents as required.
Prepare reports, correction notices, procedures and other written documentation for contractors, stakeholders, and management.
Ensure all projects meet safety standards under OSHA, state regulations and industry best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications, comparing with customer or engineer standards.
Knowledge of transmission and substation facilities including foundations, overhead structures, conductor stringing, conduit installation, and related components.
2+ years experience performing inspections, providing technical support, identifying compliance issues, and recommending corrective actions.
5+ years total engineering design and/or construction management experience in the electric and gas utility industry.
Physical Requirements
8–12 hour workdays, 5–6 days a week as project demands.
Ability and willingness to travel and stay for a minimum of 6 weeks at a time.
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly.
Ability to walk 3–5 miles per day across rough or uneven terrain.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
