Utilities - Analytics description of work

Under minimal supervision, the Process Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting financial and data analytics of the Utilities department. Analytics will include cash flow (NPV), Return on Investment (ROI), Return on Expense (ROE), as well as economic sensitivity analysis. This individual’s role will be aligned with process improvement initiatives with a focus on standardizing key processes to reduce waste and improve customer satisfaction. This will include evaluation of key business processes with a focus on evaluating cost and cost improvement opportunities. This position will also be involved in evaluating the return on investment (ROI) and risk of various process improvement projects and evaluating the overall project portfolio. Analytical responsibilities will also extend to critical capital projects, customer utility rates development, energy supply agreement support, and external customer marketing initiatives (e.g. development of renewables, capacity sales, and demand-side management efforts). qualifications

A Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field, plus a minimum of three (3) years related work experience with the financial aspects of quality improvement projects, budgeting, or contracts. Strong non-degreed candidates with significant demonstrated experience may be considered. Essential Functions of the job

Provides financial analysis and data analytic support to identify individual projects to reduce variation and eliminate waste. Proficient in applying problem solving tools to real world situations to realize efficiencies. Conducts inspections and process audits and determines activity cost elements. Develops associated metrics and defines requirements and ensures that data is collected to support analysis of process costs and trends. Works with related subject matter experts to determine appropriate corrective actions. Supports the development, implementation and ongoing operations, with specific responsibility associated with the development of Project ROI and risk analysis. Provides analytical support during budget development along with tracking budget progress throughout all utility departments. Compiles, prepares and reports information relating to energy supply procurement and disbursement. Reviews and maintains various regulatory documents and rate tariff sheets for natural gas transportation and electric transmission providers. Assists in driving utilization of performance data and internal and external customer feedback to ensure top issues are routinely addressed at the root cause level and on-going monitoring is in place.
