The Department of Cultural Facilities, Arts and Entertainment oversees the management and execution of the City’s various entertainment venues including but not limited to: Chrysler Hall, Scope Arena, Attucks Theatre, Wells Theatre, Harrison Opera House, Harbor Park and outdoor permitted activities such as parades and run/walks. We strive to bring a diversity of artists and sporting events to the citizens of Hampton Roads. This position provides on-site technical support for all production equipment at Seven Venues facilities for the City of Norfolk.
Schedules and supervises event personnel and contracted vendors for events. Serves as a liaison between contracted staff/vendors and the client for production needs. Assists in the selection and procurement of production equipment.
Department Hiring Salary Range: $52,581.31 - $60,388.26 Essential Functions
Provide on-site technical support for city owned equipment during events including lighting, audio, video, rigging, and IT systems.
Perform venue preparation and restoration before and after events. Coordinate with internal departments ensuring correct setup of venue provided equipment.
Supervise contracted event staff and vendors to ensure client’s production requirements are met.
Manage back of house operation from load-in through load-out on assigned events.
Consult with video, sound, lighting, scoreboard, electronic signage and other vendors to secure new services and products.
Oversee the procurement of new equipment, repairs of existing equipment, and department consumables.
Manage inventory and preventative maintenance schedule for all city owned production equipment.
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through two years of college resulting in a Associate's degree or equivalent.
A minimum of two years of theater and arena production experience.
Preferred License(s) and/or Certification(s)
CPR/First Aid
Valid Driver's License
Forklift certification
Man lift certification

Variable schedule based on events. Regular office hours are Monday – Friday 8:30a – 5p with nights, evenings, weekends and holidays for events required. The position will work 40+ hours per week based on event schedule.
