Histotechnologist – UF Health
Overview
Perform technical duties involving processing tissue for diagnosis by a pathologist. Perform duties using various instruments and immunohistochemical procedures, as well as immunofluorescence techniques. Assist in quality control procedures, maintain and troubleshoot instruments, may also gross biopsy samples, and provide excellent customer service.

Qualifications Required Education: High School Diploma or GED. Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Science related field.
Required Experience: 1-2 years, one year of specialized training in a NAACLS approved Histology program or one year working as a histotechnician/histotechnologist in a hospital laboratory. Preferred Experience: Two years experience in Histology.
Knowledge of principles, methods, materials, and techniques of histopathology
Ability to identify tissue structures, cell components, and their staining and labeling characteristics
Ability to perform assigned tasks according to prescribed procedures and to recognize and correct abnormal results that might affect the outcome of the diagnosis
Ability to recognize malfunctioning equipment and assist in making repairs
Ability to prioritize tasks and organize workflow
Good decision‑making skills
Attention to detail
Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner
Professional and courteous interaction with internal and external customers
Required Licensure/Certifications: Florida Histotechnologist License. Preferred Licensure/Certifications: National Certification.
