Job Summary Cardiac Rehab Exercise Physiologists deliver care to patients assessing, improving, and maintaining patients’ fitness and health. The American Society of Exercise Physiologists has defined the profession as “the study, assessment, and improvement of human biomechanical movement.” Exercise Physiologists collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Exercise Physiologists effectively interact with patients and significant others and provide direct and individualized care to patients based on the application of American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation standards. Exercise Physiologists have a professional obligation to participate in committee activities, surveys, and improvement initiatives. Cardiac Rehab Exercise Physiologists provide rehabilitation therapies which include telemetry monitoring while exercising and intense individualized education. The Exercise Physiologists read and interpret data to better determine patient care.

Minimum Education
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum Work Experience
0-2 Years
Required Licenses/Certifications
Heartsaver CPR, ACLS
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Deals effectively with hospital personnel and duties of position.
Demonstrated advocate of quality and cost effective care.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills.
Maintains professional appearance and decorum at all times.
EKG rhythm interpretation
Requires ability to handle confidential information.
Requires extreme diplomacy and tact.
Compile and analyze reports
Compile statistics.
Compose letters/memoranda.
Compose pertinent policies and procedures.
Maintain logs.
Maintains patient charts, including documentation.
Maintains ACSM and AACVPR guidelines.
Maintains work area according to OSHA and NIOSH standards.
Schedule appointments.
Complete and present a PI study
Lead one of the educational classes
Supervise Stress test with Cardiologists
