Duties
Assesses the health status of patients/clients through comprehensive physical examination and diagnostic procedures to provide primary care of patients/clients.
Applies advanced nursing principles to effectively diagnose and treat patients/clients.
Prescribes medications and orders therapeutic treatments related to medical conditions within the scope of practice to provide appropriate patient/client care.
Formulates, implements, and monitors health management plans and refers patients/clients as needed for the management of health problems.
Provides education and counseling for patients/clients and families on health promotion, health maintenance, and health restoration for the management of health conditions.
Initiates appropriate interventions in emergency situations until a Physician is available to administer treatment.
Requirements and Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Successful completion of an accredited program for Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner. Incumbents must have a current, valid license as a Registered Nurse and be certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Nebraska.
Other: Reliable attendance is required. Applicant accepting a job offer must pass the following exams in this order: medical exam and, at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
