Interventional Radiology Technologist – Special Procedures
Gottlieb Memorial Hospital (GMH), Melrose Park, IL – located in the western suburbs about 35‑45 minutes from downtown Chicago and easily accessible via I‑290.

Full time — Day Shift.
Shift:
Monday‑Friday with rotating weekend shifts.
On‑call:
Rotating on‑call duties with a 30‑minute response time.
About the Department:
Interventional Radiology / Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
Reporting to:
Interventional Radiology Physician. This role provides technical support during specialized imaging procedures under a radiologist’s supervision, ensuring high‑quality images and safe patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare procedure rooms: set up imaging equipment, trays, and supplies; maintain cleanliness and readiness for quick turnover.
Operate and troubleshoot imaging systems with technical proficiency.
Handle contrast media: prepare and assist in administration of contrast agents per guidelines, labeling all medications accurately.
Patient care: assess patients, confirm identity with two identifiers, provide age‑appropriate care, and minimize radiation exposure.
Assist patient transfers: help with safe transfers between beds, carts, and exam tables.
Apply imaging protocols: use correct protocols and immobilization techniques based on patient age.
Follow safety protocols: maintain sterile, aseptic, and universal precautions.
Maintain credentials: keep professional licensure and certifications current through ongoing education.
Document: complete all records accurately and timely in EPIC/RIS.
Verify data: confirm patient data on the scanner via the modality worklist and verify orders.
Upload images to PACS and track procedures in RIS.
Execute downtime procedures: follow backup protocols and update systems once restored.
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent work experience.
1–2 years of related experience in a radiology setting.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
CPR certification.
Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Radiology.
3–5 years of related experience.
Certified Vascular Interventional Radiography (ARRT).
Computer Skills
Basic keyboarding skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
