Dietician, Wilkes Barre and Scranton Rehab Hospitals (Call-In)
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Vice‑President of Nursing, the Clinical Dietitian plans, directs, and provides all aspects of nutritional care to patients, including inpatients and outpatient programs. The position serves patients from adolescents to geriatric ages, applying principles of growth and development over the life span and providing individualized care per the hospital’s Patient Care and Medical Nutrition Services policies.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in nutrition or dietetics.
Advanced degree preferred.
One (1) year experience in a health care institution preferred.
Responsibilities & Duties
Complete nutritional assessments for all newly admitted patients and review diet orders for appropriateness.
Develop, update, and document nutritional care plans for patients with identified nutritional needs.
Interview patients with diet technicians to gather information about eating habits and preferences for menu planning.
Provide diet counseling for therapeutic/modified diets and document education in the medical record.
Plan regular and modified diet menus, considering variety, seasonality, availability of food, patient preferences, nutritional/caloric content, and food costs.
Document additional nutritional assessments/reassessments in the medical record.
Attend Patient Care Staffing meetings and report Medical Nutrition Services performance at committees; serve as a resource for medical and nursing staff.
Co‑develop, review, and revise medical nutritional services policies with the AVP Nursing.
Maintain professional growth through seminars, conferences, and affiliations.
Perform duties of Diet Technician and Diet Clerk as necessary.
Special Employment Requirements
Registered by the Commission on Registration of the American Dietetic Association.
Licensed as a Dietitian by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Cleared by PA State Police criminal history check and PA Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse Central Register (Childline).
Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills needed for effective communication with management team, medical staff, nursing, and related departments.
Working Conditions Works in a well‑lit office environment.

Salary: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00
