OVERVIEW
The role of the Project Manager - Distribution (Engineering and Administration) (PM) is to support the Supply Chain in achieving higher performance through effective project management, strategic capital plan development and implementation. The PM leads the management of capital projects and oversees the planning, budget preparation, design and execution of distribution center construction, material handling, and capital improvements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities Management of Capital Projects
Leading groups of multi-disciplinary teams in planning, initiation, execution, monitoring, controlling and closing projects, including conceptual design, detailed design, RFP and contract negotiations, construction, progress payments, risk management and operational turn‑over of completed work.
Monitor performance on capital projects against budget and schedule baselines, preparation and presentation of periodic performance reports for leadership on overall capital plan progress and project performance.
Coordinate with DC Operations and vendor teams to limit downtime from project work.
Vendor and Contract Management
Coordinate with Non‑Merch Procurement team in sourcing and selecting vendors to provide materials and services needed for capital projects.
Prepare RFP packets and other materials to engage vendors in bidding processes to secure competitive pricing for high‑value services and materials.
Negotiate terms of Master Service Agreements, Statement of Work contracts, pricing proposals and other documents with vendors.
Obtain necessary authorizations within organization for contract agreement and manage signature process for execution.
Coordinate with supplier relations team to provide ongoing feedback on vendor project performance. Participate in business review sessions with critical vendors to enhance working relationships among the teams.
Capital Planning Support
Participate as required in the review and approval process of capital plan with SC leadership and FP&A teams to secure required capital funds.
Partner with DSG stakeholders to assist in development of scope proposals, budget estimates and ROI projections.
Interdepartmental Coordination and Support
Lead and provide advice on a wide variety of technical services to Supply Chain and DSG corporate departments. These services include project management, vendor selection and supervision, contract negotiation, working with Non‑Merch Procurement, and administration and project budget prioritization.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management, or related business degree
Advanced degree preferred
5‑7 years prior experience -- material handling and/or consulting experience managing capital projects
Ability to travel
Experience with managing large material handling installations and/or large building construction projects
Use analytically sound problem solving methodologies and make effective use of available resources
Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate to all levels of any organization
Creation of executive reports and presentations
Understanding of contract documentation and ability to work with legal by providing business needs and high-level risk perspective
Skilled at handling multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously
Experience managing capital budgets and/or project budgets
