The Global Risk Specialist plays a crucial role in promoting a culture of proactive risk awareness and mitigation throughout Samaritans Purse. This position is responsible for leading the identification, analysis, prioritization, mitigation, and management of global risks, ensuring alignment with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs.

The Specialist will work closely and regularly with assigned managers and subject matter experts to assess and address potential risk exposures. In addition, this role will support tabletop exercises and crisis management preparedness, including developing post-exercise gap analyses and implementing risk mitigation strategies. These efforts will integrate and enhance existing business continuity, disaster recovery, and emergency response protocols.

In the role of Global Risk Specialist, you will have the opportunity to:

Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him

Maintain awareness and governance of third‑party risk management, including vendors, contractors, and ministry partners.

Identify and anticipate emerging risks, ensuring adherence to the guidelines while collecting and analyzing data, updating key metrics, and staying current on industry trends, litigation, and regulatory changes that may affect the Ministry.

Identify, assess, and prioritize key risks across departments (financial, operational, reputational, technological, legal, human resources, etc.)

Collaborate with Legal Counsel, Finance, and HR to manage compliance with international operations, data protection, labor laws, and grant obligations.

Collaborate with Policy Manager to ensure risks are considered and adequately addressed within Ministry policy.

Collaborate with Insurance managers to ensure insurance policies adequately address current risks.

Develop and oversee risk‑related training and awareness initiatives for staff and volunteers.

Manage the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) system, partnering with department and Ministry risk owners to assess, monitor, and report on organizational risks, mitigation strategies, and risk appetite across all lines of effort.

Coordinate and deliver transparent risk reporting, including monthly ERM updates, quarterly audit committee reports, and bi‑annual risk reassessments.

Facilitate tactical and strategic risk discussions with partner departments in order to bring full visibility of risks to all Ministry leadership.

Advise executive leadership on major risk exposures and mitigation strategies.

Support crisis management planning, business continuity, and reputational recovery. Produce post‑tabletop exercise reviews and gap analyses to improve Ministry effectiveness. Collaborate with Ministry leaders to produce post‑post‑tabletop exercise response.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field with three (3) to five (5) years of experience preferred in Enterprise Risk Management, along with field experience with international non‑profit(s) in humanitarian and development settings; or equivalent combination of experience and education. A college‑level education in Biblical studies is strongly preferred.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Demonstrates strong moral principles in risk‑related decision‑making.

Ability to identify emerging risks (strategic, operational, financial, compliance, reputational) and evaluate their potential impact.

Ability to create and update organizational risks on a monthly basis for executive‑level awareness.

Ability to effectively work with other department managers to identify and mitigate tactical and strategic risks across the organization.

Skilled in data collection, interpretation, and risk modeling to support informed decision‑making for executive leaders.

Aligns risk management with organizational objectives to ensure compliance‑based sustainable growth with minimal risk.

Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and Department of Justice guidelines.

Ability to work through cross‑programmatic challenges to deliver compliance‑based organizational solutions.

Ability to develop risk‑based crisis scenarios and produce cross‑programmatic continuity plans.

12 credit hours of college‑level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, an opportunity to meet and complete the requirement is available upon hire.
