Senior Accounting Technician

Your role:
Assisting in preparing client bookkeeping and accounting records, payroll, financial statements, tax remittances, etc.
Reconciliation of accounts receivable and accounts payable
Preparing various types of tax filings, HST, and other compliance returns
Communicating accounting concepts to clients and answering their questions
CRA correspondence, requests, and audits – ensure your work is easy to audit
Adjusting Journal Entries, Working Papers, assisting with T2 Returns, and Compilation Engagement Financial Statements
What you bring to the table:
Completion of a diploma/certificate in Business Administration or Accounting
3-5 years of Accounting and Bookkeeping experience required
Experience working in a professional services environment is an asset
Keen attention to detail, time management, and organization are essential
Strong trusting relationship building skills are important, including written and verbal communications skills as well as a collaborative client service approach
Proficiency with QuickBooks Online(QBO), QuickBooks Desktop, Sage 50, Xero, and Microsoft Office Suite software and aptitude to learn new cloud accounting apps and integrations are valuable
You can anticipate your client’s and team’s needs, take ownership and initiative of the work, and assist proactively internally and externally for optimal outcomes
Professional judgment and confidentiality are imperative
Candidates must possess a basic knowledge of Canadian sales tax rules and compliance, including GST/HST regulations, provincial sales tax requirements, and the ability to navigate complex tax scenarios to ensure accurate and timely reporting
Proficiency with Caseware and Taxprep is an asset
