Duties / Responsibilities

Responsible for handling the daily operations of Banking, Trust, and Accounts Payable. Maintains and enforces a documented system of accounting policies and procedures. Ensures all incoming emails and correspondence to the Accounting department are promptly addressed. Assists management with implementing new technology or standard operating procedures. Work alongside the regional Billing Coordinator to ensure timely billing and collections statements are prepared in the northeast region. Monitors Unapplied, Trust, and Work In Progress (WIP) balances. Ensures all expense reports are processed and paid on time. Communicates with bank officials regarding ACH payments, wire transfer notifications, and bank account status. Maintains an orderly electronic imaging system (Expert Image). Complete Sales and Use Tax filing for NY/NJ offices. Reporting

Provides management with regular status reports regarding daily balances and transactions. Assist management with ad‑hoc financial reporting for the regional offices. Any and all other duties as assigned. Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree in accounting combined with five or more years of related experience or training in accounting procedures, specifically in a law firm setting. Demonstrated experience performing accounting work, including transaction processing, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. Must have the ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and complaints and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Must have experience interpreting financial statements, recording journal entries, performing higher‑level calculations for budgets, statistical analysis, and probability statements. The Senior Staff Accountant must use the utmost discretion in all aspects of the job. Must have experience in Aderant Expert, Elite, or similar legal software. In accordance with New York and New Jersey state laws, the salary range for this position is [$125,000-$150,000] annually, based on experience and qualifications.
