Join a workforce where innovation and teamwork provide support to the community and citizens of Monroe County.**Compensation:**$55,354.03 - $85,798.74**Job Description:**The primary function of this position is to perform specialized administrative and field work for recreation in the Parks & Beaches Department. Tasks for the Recreation Team Leader include developing and managing recreational programming; planning and marketing; managing contracts; overseeing interns and volunteers; and coordinating all rentals and special events. Work involves maintaining good working relationships with the general public, volunteers, contractors, and others.**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*** Assists with the preparation and submission of grant applications.* Manages Use of Property agreements for the Parks & Beaches Department and processes associated fee payments.* Maintains an accurate, up-to-date calendar of park rentals and events; prepares and publishes monthly schedules.* Assists team members and the public in coordinating special events and recreation programs.* Creates promotional materials, updates website content, and manages outreach initiatives to enhance program visibility.* Develops and maintains required camp forms and ensures accurate documentation.* Assists in developing and implementing departmental policies and procedures.* Supervises independent contractors, volunteers, and temporary staff to ensure compliance with County policies and procedures.* Builds and maintains partnerships with community members, schools, civic organizations, and partner agencies to promote programs and increase participation.* Sets up and cleans up facilities and equipment before and after programs and events.* Opens and closes facilities as needed.* Ensures the safety and well-being of participants during programs and events.* Teaches, assists with, or organizes classes such as art, quilting, sewing, fitness, sports, culinary arts, music, computer training, tutoring, and related activities.* Plans and coordinates all school break camps, including hiring temporary staff and organizing field trips.* Develops and implements year-round recreation programs.* Instructs specific recreation and fitness programs as needed.* Represents the department at community meetings as required.* Works weekends, evenings, and holidays as assigned to support operational needs.* Performs daily tasks and responsibilities independently, ensuring timely and accurate completion of assignments.* Communicates effectively with staff, supervisors, and the public through clear, professional verbal and written correspondence* Responsible for personally knowing and following the County’s Personnel Policies and Procedures, Administrative Instructions, Department Operating Procedures, and applicable Statutes and Regulations.

Responsible for ensuring others also adhere to these standards.* Performs other related job duties as assigned.* In the event of special, emergency, or disaster situations, employee may be required to work schedules other than those for which they are regularly scheduled in any capacity deemed appropriate.**QUALIFICATIONS****Education and Experience:**Bachelor's degree preferred, plus one (1) year minimum of prior related work experience or equivalent.**Special Qualifications:**Must have current CPR and First Aid certification or obtain certification within six (6) months of hire. Requires a valid Florida Driver’s License and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher, and Outlook.**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*** Ability to work a general outline of duties and responsibilities.* Ability to perform entry-level professional work, including basic data analysis and synthesis, report creation, process performance, and regulatory or compliance activities.* Ability to make decisions that govern own activities as well as others; decisions impact how the unit provides services and support to internal and external customers.* Ability to work with more than ten coworkers who mostly engage in the same activities as oneself.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**The work is medium and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:* Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. The amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.* Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.* Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.* Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.* Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture, by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.* Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.* Handling: Picking, holding, or otherwise working, primarily with the whole hand.* Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discrimination in sound.* Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.* Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. Occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.* Manual Dexterity: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.* Mental Acuity: Ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes.* Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.* Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward.* Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.* Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.* Speaking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, including the ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately and concisely.* Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.* Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
