Weathering Lab Scientist – Americhem Americhem is hiring a Weathering Lab Scientist to work in our facility in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. The role focuses on maintaining accelerated weathering equipment, managing multiple weathering projects, and acting as a technical expert on projects that drive new business development.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates strong project management skills by managing multiple projects and multiple test methods running concurrently in a large, privately held accelerated weathering laboratory.

Coordination of ISO 17025 accreditation activities including developing, modifying, verifying, and validating methods; performing tests and calibration methods; analyzing results, issuing statements of conformity or opinions and interpretations; reporting, reviewing, and authorizing results.

Knowledge of standard test methods including AATCC 16E, ASTM G7, Ford FLTM BO 116-01, Honda HES D6601 / JIS B7754, ISO 105 B02, ISO 105 B04, ISO 105 B06, ISO 4892-2, ISO 4892-3, SAE J1885, SAE J1960, SAE J2412, SAE J2527, ASTM G154, Toyota TSMO 501G, Toyota TSMO 501G Exterior, Nissan NES MO135.

Follows all quality system and safety protocols, completes safety training and ensures training compliance of the laboratory team; maintains a safe record and contributes to safety goals and keeps work areas clean and organized.

Operates, troubleshoots issue and performs minor maintenance on weathering equipment including Atlas Ci-35, Ci-65, Ci-4000, Xenotest Beta and Q-Lab Q-Sun Xe-3 Xenon Test Chamber and Fluorescent QUV Weatherometers.

Identifies emerging technologies and assists in the development of new weathering methods which support strategic initiatives and new business development.

Establishes and maintains strong relationships and effectively communicates with customers, suppliers, sales and research and development team members.

Acts as a consultant to recommend methods and equipment necessary to both internal and external customers.

Continually assesses accelerated weathering capabilities and identifies new equipment for evaluation and purchase.

Establish relationships / partnerships with outside test labs and equipment vendors.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or related field.

3-5 years of weathering experience in the polymer industry.

Knowledge of automotive, building and construction, and carpet & textile weathering methods preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Advanced mathematical skills (data and statistical analysis).

Previous hands‑on experience with QUVs and xenon‑arc weatherometers preferred.
