Environmental Services Representative – Multiple Openings (Full-Time & Part-Time, Varied Shifts Available)
Join Houston Methodist Hospital as an Environmental Services Representative. This role offers both full‑time and part‑time opportunities across a range of shifts, including day (7 am – 7 pm) and night (7 pm – 7 am). The position focuses on maintaining environmental and infection control standards through a variety of general cleaning tasks in assigned areas, ensuring a safe and attractive environment for patients, guests, and staff.

Qualifications
Education
High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, homeschool equivalency, or partial/complete post‑secondary education)
Experience
One year of relevant experience preferred
Skills and Abilities
Demonstrates the competencies required to safely perform the assigned job, as evaluated through ongoing assessments and performance reviews
Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English necessary for essential functions, especially those affecting patient or employee safety
Ability to communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and coworkers in a customer‑service focused manner
Accesses information within the department and hospital system to support departmental needs
Multi‑task oriented with the ability to complete work within designated time frames
Can perform duties accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision
Demonstrates efficient and safe use of housekeeping equipment and chemicals
Essential Functions

– Interacts positively with patients, families, and staff; participates in meetings, huddles, and other teamwork activities; promotes a positive work environment and team focus.
Service
– Responds promptly to assistance requests from patients, staff, and visitors; completes assignments to create a healing environment; performs efficient room‑cleaning processes and supports timely patient admissions.
Quality/Safety
– Follows departmental processes for room cleaning and discharge inspections; meets or exceeds HCAHPS cleanliness scores; tracks and reports safety or repair needs; follows policies, procedures, and safety rules including infection control and OSHA standards.
Finance
– Uses and stores chemicals, paper goods, supplies, and equipment properly; manages time effectively to prioritize daily tasks and avoid incidental overtime.
Growth/Innovation
– Takes responsibility for personal growth; participates in continuing education; contributes ideas to improve efficiency and effectiveness of department processes.
