Packaging Technician – Night Shift 7 (Pharmavite)
Shift:
6 pm–6:30 am – 12‑hr night shift.
About the Role:
The Packaging Technician sets up, operates, inspects, packs, and palletizes finished products using equipment such as ISIDA Weigher, MS Filling system, Unscrambler, NJM Capper/Sealer/Retorque, NJM Labeler/Optel Vision System, Marburg Neck Bander/Sleeve Bander, and Twin pack/Orienteer. The technician ensures production meets quality, production, and safety goals and maintains a clean, efficient work environment.
Responsibilities:
Set up and operate automatic and semi‑automatic filling and labeling equipment.
Determine appropriate seat for the production run, manually adjust controls, and assemble equipment with hand tools.
Supply bulk to packaging lines, keep lines supplied with components and remove finished product.
Use a computer programming unit to adjust controls and machine operation.
Continually monitor equipment and product flow, ensure quality, pack product in boxes, seal boxes with tape machines, and load packed products onto pallets to meet production and safety goals.
Maintain routine logs and records of cleaning and production activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with procedures.
Perform in‑process quality checks, pull and retain samples, inspect tablets, capsules and bottles for defects, remove defective items without slowing the line, and notify Line Lead or Supervisor as necessary.
Assemble and review product batch records for cGMP compliance to facilitate timely approval of finished product for commercial distribution.
Play a major role in continuous process improvement of the packaging line.
Train and cross‑train other operators in all functions of the production line.
Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly fashion, using rags, broom, and dustpan as appropriate.
Disassemble and sanitize equipment at closeout, wash parts and machinery with water and cleansing/sanitizing agents, and dry as necessary.
Perform all duties in compliance with cGMPs, SOPs, and safety procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Certification:
None.
Experience:
Requires 6 months manufacturing and/or warehousing experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Reading English sufficiently to understand standard operating procedures, packaging standards, and labels.
Ability to communicate in English to receive and follow verbal instructions.
Basic addition, multiplication, and division skills to calculate and adjust equipment to fill containers as required.
Demonstrated proficiency in operating manufacturing machinery.
Physical Requirements:
Stands/walks for the full shift, with little or no flexibility to move from station unless relieved by others.
Performs repetitive job duties for long periods of time.
Intermittently lifts and moves loads of up to 50 lbs using pallet jacks or other mechanical aids.
Pulls or pushes boxes of product on/offline and/or pallets using pallet jack, hoists, etc.
Manual dexterity to manipulate filling and labeling equipment controls, small production containers, and hand tools to assemble or disassemble parts of equipment.
Required to walk up and down stairs and use ladders.
Environment:
Constant exposure to noise levels that require hearing protection; warm temperature levels, fumes, vibration, dust, etc., may cause minor discomfort. Protective eye wear, hair net, uniforms, safety shoes, and gloves are required when handling products.
Safety:
Must perform this job safely in accordance with SOPs and good manufacturing practices without endangering self or others.
Compensation:
Salary range: $37,000 – $60,000 per year. Actual compensation will be based on geographic location, education, experience, qualifications, and job‑related skills. Total rewards include annual performance bonus, medical, dental and vision benefits, 401(k) match, and other wellness benefits. Overtime pay is provided for all overtime hours worked by non‑exempt employees in accordance with state and federal law.
