The Engineering Manager plays a critical role in leading and managing a team of engineers to successfully design, develop, and deliver high-quality precast concrete structures. This role involves overseeing the technical aspects of the team’s work, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and fostering a collaborative and innovative engineering culture. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Engineering Supervisor will oversee all aspects of projects to ensure successful and safe outcomes. The Engineering Manager reports to the Vice President of Drafting & Engineering.

Salary range ($100,000-$140,000). Based on experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Obtains and maintains Professional Engineering licensure.

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Engineers and/or Engineering Supervisors

Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.

Foster a positive and productive team environment that encourages collaboration, learning, and growth.

Discipline and maintain employee relations in the Engineering department.

Assist HR with staffing needs, personnel issues, and implement department policies and procedures.

Coordinate employee work schedules with other supervisors and management within the D+E department.

Work with engineers to assist in unfamiliar designs and responsibilities to find the best solutions.

Ensure safe working conditions, structures, and quality products by upholding engineering ethics and integrity.

Projects and Design:

Review calculations and drawings to ensure they are satisfactory to stamp as appropriate.

Ensures safe structures, safe working conditions, quality products, quality service, and satisfied customers by working with all departments within the Company.

Interpret Architectural/Structural plans and performs required calculations to ensure structural integrity.

Oversees a project design team and is accountable for project milestones and the successful deliverable to internal and external customers.

Identifies potential issues with project schedules and quality and responds with proposed solutions with internal teams.

Coordinates with Contractors/Engineers/Architects/Owners as required

Provide sales staff with engineering support for prospect jobs.

Visits manufacturing facilities and construction sites as required.

Handles concerns and issues as necessary during any phase of the project.

Needs to make timely, educated decisions based on needs and requirements.

Prepares appropriate fixes for errors that have occurred on the projects.

Work with production team on facility and manufacturing requests.

Complete special projects as requested and perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering, or comparable ABET accredited degree.

7+ years-experience in precast design preferred.

Interpersonal communication skills to interact with co-workers, supervisors, and managers.

Experience with Microsoft office software. Ability to interact with customers in a professional manner.

Professional Engineering Licensure required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for typing, filing, and using office equipment.

Visual acuity and ability to read small print.

Hearing acuity and ability to communicate effectively with others.

Ability to lift and move office supplies and equipment.

Mobility and ability to move around the office as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Minimal risk of exposure to unusual elements.

Minimal risk of safety precautions.

General Office Environment with a moderate to high exposure to jobsite environment.
