Data Center Operations Manager, Data Center Ops (DCO)

Leading teams in hardware and network diagnostics, physical repair, and on‑call duties. You should be able to work independently and effectively manage teams, prioritize work, communicate clearly, and react quickly. Strong knowledge of data center facilities, hardware, and network repair is essential. You will also create documentation, drive innovation, participate in site‑level projects, and resolve complex issues within the Data Center Space. This role operates in a 24/7 environment and includes a night shift schedule that may be adjusted to meet operational demands.
Key Job Responsibilities
Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to data center technicians and operators.
Manage performance of a diverse team(s) of data center operation professionals across different locations.
Develop career paths and update internal tools accordingly.
Recruit and train data technicians to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
Oversee day‑to‑day data center operations, including queue management, 7/24 shift arrangements, and hardware logistics.
Act as or train a subject‑matter expert on all aspects of data center operations.
Ensure all operational KPIs and metrics are measured and met.
Inspire and guide improvements in team processes, technology innovation, and automation.
Lead large‑scale events (outages) and act as call leader.
Improve workflows and throughput for data center operations.
Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures that meet industry best practices and required SLAs.
Maintain the on‑call schedule, coordinating absences and vacations.
Continuously strive to enhance the quality and quantity of services and improve Customer Experience.
A Day in the Life As a member of Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will help ensure overall availability and reliability by meeting or exceeding defined service levels for data center operations. You will contribute to expanding our infrastructure management team and drive the next level of AWS Data Center Operations through strong technical understanding and visionary leadership.
Basic Qualifications
4+ years of Information Technology (IT) experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent.
2+ years of computer hardware experience, including troubleshooting and repair.
2+ years of people‑management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with data cabling/computer facilities maintenance.
Experience in computer architecture or general troubleshooting/debugging of hardware.
