Join the Arc of Union County to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through day habilitation programming.
Summary The Arc of Union County Inc. provides person‑centered services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Day habilitation programming educates and trains participants to acquire skills, knowledge, and experience needed to participate in the community. Activities support problem‑solving, self‑help, social, adaptive, daily living, and leisure skills, fostering independence and choice.
Major Position Responsibilities
Operate agency vehicles safely, complete vehicle logs, and inspect vehicles before and after use.
Maintain vehicle safety equipment, report issues, and manage fuel cards, registration, and insurance.
Provide transport for service recipients in a 6–12 passenger vehicle, assist with boarding, seat‑belt use, and supervise during transport.
Collaborate with service partners to deliver educational, recreational, and enrichment activities aligned with each service recipient’s Service Plan.
Implement individualized support plans, behavior plans, and skill development activities.
Monitor health baselines, administer medications, and report any medical concerns.
Maintain accurate documentation in Therap and other agency systems.
Participate in daily safety drills, emergency protocols, and complete required safety trainings.
Report and manage incidents, including accidents, abuse, and safety violations, and complete Incident Reports in a timely manner.
Ensure effective communication with families, providers, program supervisors, and directors.
Adhere to attendance policies, clock in/out, and overall professional conduct.
Qualifications
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
21 years of age or older.
Minimum three years of driving experience with a clean record.
Valid New Jersey driver’s license (abstract not exceeding 5 points).
Minimum 20/40 correctable vision in both eyes.
Complete criminal background check and Central Registry check.
Ability to read, write, and speak English; basic computer and math skills.
Willingness to learn, complete required trainings, and follow directions.
Skills & Training Ability to use Windows software, data entry in Therap, and web‑based platform. Training will be provided.
Physical Demands & ADA Expectations Must be able to stand, sit, move, lift up to 35 pounds, and drive a passenger van; physical stamina required for outdoor activities. Reasonable accommodations will be considered.
