Department Political Science in cooperation with the Institute for Governance and Civics (IGC)

Responsibilities The candidate would be expected to teach courses and mentor students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will have a tenure home in the Department of Political Science and will be expected to assist the IGC with its mission. The successful candidate will attend IGC events, serve on IGC committees, and help evaluate IGC award nominations. Total faculty service and teaching obligations will meet the “normal” load for FSU faculty.

Qualifications

Completed Ph.D. by the date of hire.

Research and teaching interests that contribute to the scientific study of law.

Potential for high impact peer-reviewed publications.

Potential for obtaining external funding.

Potential for high-quality instruction and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Commitment to the mission of enhancing civic awareness as well as a readiness to contribute to the intellectual life and programmatic development of the IGC.

Preferred Qualifications Candidates whose research and teaching contribute to the scientific study of law are strongly encouraged to apply. Substantive areas of interest include, but are not limited to judicial behavior, judicial elections, and/or judicial legitimacy. Candidates are expected to add to the department’s strengths in quantitative, experimental, and/or formal methods.
