Role Overview As a Residential Support Worker in our Children’s Services, you will provide high‑quality care, support, and guidance to children and young people. Your responsibilities include implementing individualised care plans, fostering positive behaviour, and ensuring safety and well‑being.
Key Responsibilities
Support daily living activities, personal care, education, and recreational activities.
Encourage positive behaviour and offer emotional and practical support to build self‑esteem and confidence.
Develop trusting, professional relationships with children and provide consistency and stability.
Implement care plans and ensure individual needs are met.
Safeguard children, reporting concerns promptly.
Assist children in developing life skills, such as communication, socialisation, and independence.
Provide a safe, welcoming, and structured environment that encourages growth and development.
Contribute to regular reviews and maintain accurate records in line with regulatory and organisational standards.
Person Specification
Passion for working with children and a commitment to the highest standard of care.
Previous experience in residential care, children’s services, or a similar field is desirable.
Understanding of child development and ability to support children with emotional, behavioural, and social challenges.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and sleep‑in shifts.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Driving licence desirable.
