Electrician I – Fiber Optics (Buchanan Dam Project)
Location: Buchanan Dam, TX (Daily reporting to onsite trailer, approx. 2 miles from work area)
Duration: Minimum 1 year (full-time assignment)
Position Overview
The role is classified as Electrician I, but this assignment is specifically focused on fiber optics infrastructure work, not traditional electrical wiring. The technician will support conduit installation, fiber cable pulls, and camera system upgrades at Buchanan Dam. This role requires comfort working in confined spaces and at heights up to 150 feet, with adherence to safety protocols including confined space entry and fall protection.
Key Responsibilities
Install and mount 1.5” EMT conduit: run, bend, drill anchors, and secure with Unistrut
Pull fiber optic cable through installed conduit (no splicing or termination required)
Support camera replacement activities (installation support only; telecom team will handle terminations/swaps)
Operate aerial platforms, Sky Track, and other large equipment (training provided if needed)
Enter confined spaces as required, using site-issued LOTO lock
Ensure compliance with site-specific safety standards and practices
Safety Requirements
Knowledge of confined space entry procedures and ability to use a LOTO lock when applicable
Knowledge of fall protection practices
Fall protection required when using aerial platforms
Fall protection not required when working on scaffolding (enclosed with guardrails, up to 75 ft and tapering to 150 ft)
Qualifications
Zero or more years of experience as an electrician running and bending conduit (EMT experience required)
Ability to perform fiber cable pulls (termination not required)
Comfort working at heights up to 150 ft
Basic knowledge of confined spaces and ability to use LOTO lock when applicable
Familiarity with fall protection requirements and aerial lift operation
Experience with Sky Track or other large equipment preferred (training available)
New graduates may be considered if paired with experienced candidates to balance team knowledge
Telecom or fiber optic experience is helpful but not mandatory

All tools will be provided by the site
Safety harnesses and fall protection gear: candidates may bring their own; if not, equipment will be provided
