Installer (Residential/Light Commercial) Position Title: Installer (Residential/Light Commercial)

Reports To: Field Supervisor or General Manager

Position Summary Responsible for the complete and satisfactory installation of residential and/or light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. Oversees Install Helpers to ensure work is performed correctly. Communicates with customers to answer questions, resolves problems, and ensures complete satisfaction. Promotes products and services.

Key Responsibilities

Works under minimal supervision to install HVAC equipment and accessories in the customer’s home.

Installs heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories, performing limited diagnostics as needed.

Designs, fabricates, and installs ducts and duct fittings as required.

Performs start‑ups on air conditioning and heating systems and other components.

Delivers excellent customer service andains high levels of satisfaction.

Promotes products and services to the customer and calls Sales and Service Coordinator for replacement product sales leads.

Responsible for delivery and removal of equipment needed to complete installation work.

Ensures company property, vehicles, and tools are properly used, maintained, and accounted for.

Completes all paperwork neatly, accurately, thoroughly, and timely. Collects payment from customer.

Represents the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters.

Maintains installation vehicles clean and neat inside and outside in keeping with the company image.

Follows standard procedures and processes, stocks the vehicle, returns defective parts, and replenishes vehicle stock as needed.

Performs similar/other duties as needed or assigned.

Health & Safety Responsibilities

Reports unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards immediately.

Reports contravention of legislation or company policy immediately.

Corrects substandard acts or conditions within area of control.

Uses and maintains appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Never removes or renders ineffective any safety guards or devices.

Complies with general rules as prescribed by company program.

Operates devices or equipment as prescribed by company program.

Participates in safety initiatives, teams, or committees.

Reports all injuries or incidents immediately.

Provides input on developing safety initiatives and plans.

Does not perform acts that may endanger safety or well‑being of others.

Does not engage in pranks, contests, or rough behavior.

Works in compliance with applicable legislative requirements.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with additional training; 2–5 years of HVAC experience with technical training certification required.

Must possess all valid licensing or certification required by applicable laws for the geographic area.

EPA and safety certifications required.

Knowledge of fundamentals of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment and accessories.

Proficient at installing HVAC equipment and accessories successfully and without supervision.

Knowledge of layout and installation requirements of duct work and duct fittings.

Proficient mechanical aptitude and ability to operate all necessary tools and equipment.

Basic skills in reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting problems with electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems.

Effective communication skills to resolve customer issues, complaints, or concerns.

Effective and efficient time‑management and organizational skills.

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Available to work flexible hours and on‑call shifts as needed.

Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces.

Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, dry, humid, slippery surfaces, heights, and congested areas.

Ability to safely climb 300lb load capacity‑rated ladders with a 30lb tool belt.

Natural or corrected vision with normal depth perception.

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
