Job Responsibilities As a
Unit Secretary/Monitor Tech
at MercyOne, you will (under limited supervision) perform clerical and receptionist duties, observe cardiac monitors within a specific nursing unit, transcribe physician orders, and perform computer activities. You will maintain, assemble, and organize equipment, record vital signs, intake and output, weight, and behavioral changes, and report information to supervisory personnel. Additional duties may include transporting patients and obtaining medications, supplies, and medical records from other departments.
General Requirements
Clerical skills and ability to effectively utilize written and oral communications.
Demonstrate ability to understand and follow directions.
Ability to interpret cardiac rhythm and operate monitor equipment.
Record and report information such as vital signs, intake and output, weight, and any behavioral changes to appropriate supervisory personnel.
Maintain, assemble, and organize equipment needed for a safe, secure environment.
Perform additional duties as requested such as transporting patients and obtaining medications, supplies, and medical records from other departments.
Demonstrate a caring practice by respecting the rights of an individual or group.
Demonstrate ability to impact change within your department and with other departments.
Demonstrate skills as an effective team member.
Respect the confidentiality of an individual or group, unless obligated to disclose under proper authorization or legal compulsion.
Maintain a safe environment of care.
Communicate care effectively: both verbally and written.
Education
Must be 17 years of age. May be required to be 18 years of age in some areas.
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. All Certified Nursing Assistants are encouraged to belong to the National Nursing Aide Registry. In certain areas, participation in the registry is required.
Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) will be required within 30 days of hire and every year thereafter.
