Brief Description of Position:
The Senior Maintenance Technician is responsible for the proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all building systems and equipment. This role ensures the facility is safe, operational, and in compliance with company standards. The technician will also oversee and mentor junior maintenance staff, lead repair projects, and collaborate with contractors or vendors when necessary. Ensure safe, organized, efficient and productive operations in the areas of the facility and Customer Service Center(CSC) in accordance with LSG Sky Chefs and local regulations.
Preventative Maintenance
Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC/Refrigeration systems, electrical systems, plumbing, fire safety equipment, elevators, boilers, hot food kitchen equipment, commercial dish machines and other essential building infrastructure. Create and execute scheduled maintenance to ensure all equipment is operating at peak performance. Identify potential equipment failures and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime. Troubleshooting and Repairs
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, HVAC/ Refrigeration, plumbing, and general building issues. Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls and address facility-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to building operations. Manage the repair process, including sourcing parts, coordinating with outside vendors, and ensuring repairs meet all safety and regulatory standards. Lead and mentor a team of junior maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and support as needed. Delegate tasks and ensure that team members adhere to safety standards, company policies, and maintenance schedules. Review and approve work orders and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks. Oversee the general cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the facility. Ensure that all equipment is in proper working condition and respond to any repairs or issues as they arise. Coordinate facility shutdowns and maintenance schedules to avoid disruptions to business operations. Compliance and Safety
Maintain knowledge of applicable safety and regulatory standards and ensure that the facility complies with OSHA, EPA,FDA, HASSAP and other relevant regulations. Conduct safety audits and assessments, ensuring safe working practices for all staff. Prepare and maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and compliance audits. Coordinate with outside contractors for specialized repairs, services, or installations. Oversee the quality of work performed by third-party vendors. Review work orders, track progress, and ensure the timely completion of contracted services. Budgeting and Inventory
Assist in managing the facility's maintenance budget, including ordering parts, tools, and equipment. Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and equipment to minimize downtime. Track and report on maintenance costs and suggest areas for cost optimization. Skills, Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma orAt least 3 to 5years of experience in building or facilities repair/maintenance. Proficiency in using maintenance management software (CMMS) and troubleshooting tools. Strong knowledge of HVAC/ Refrigeration systems, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with staff, management, and contractors. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Certifications: Relevant certifications in HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, or other trades are preferred. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift (50-75lbs) heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in physically demanding conditions. Other: Ability to work on-call or outside normal business hours as needed for emergency repairs. Must be flexible to work 24/7, holidays and weekends. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, as travel between facilities may be required. Must be able to read and write English bilingual is a plus.
