Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations, develops a sales culture, and ensures outstanding guest service.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions, recommend items, and apply selling behaviors.

Support the total shopping environment, visual and operational elements, and sales initiatives.

Process guest purchases and returns accurately via POS.

Handle guest comments, answer calls, and escalation issues to the Store Manager.

Promote GameStop’s unique guest benefits.

Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training associates.

Observe and provide feedback on associate performance.

Provide timely recognition and record performance feedback in Workday/HR.

Ensure staff onboarding, training, and compliance before shifts.

Schedule associates, supervise staffing levels, and approve payroll.

Maintain store cleanliness, equipment, and fulfill omni‑channel orders.

Protect company assets via inventory control, loss prevention, and bank deposits.

Support sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete administrative duties.

Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and manage stock room.

Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals in POS.

Verify shipments, record discrepancies, and communicate with management.

Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately.

Maintain safety, handle injuries, and report per guidelines.

Maintain store records and manuals.

Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders.

Adhere to GameStop policies and opening/closing procedures.

Qualifications

Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.

At least 18 years old.

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.

At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.

At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.

Video game knowledge preferred.

Clear verbal and written communication, bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Operate POS systems.

Basic math and alphabetizing skills.

Complete required paperwork properly.

Follow written instructions.

Execute financial tasks per company policy.

Work a flexible schedule: nights, weekends, holidays.

Manage pressure creatively.

Reliability and good judgment.

Work alone, stand and move up to 12 hours.

Physical requirements: bend, stoop, lift up to 30 lbs.

Understand military ranks (for military base locations).

Compensation $15.52 - $19.52 per hour.
