Job Title Pool Manager

Location University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH

Responsibilities Responsible for the safety and supervision of a pool facility, staff, participants, supplies and equipment. Oversee pool instructional and special event programs and provide customer service. Manage memberships and revenue collection, post-season inventory, and equipment collections. Supervise staff and pool areas, operate pool filtration systems, implement emergency action plans, conduct staff in-service emergency drills and training, complete appropriate paperwork, and work with minimal supervision. Hold current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training/First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certifications. Preferred: Administration of Emergency Oxygen, Waterpark Lifeguard certifications, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator certifications. Must be able to work non‑normal hours and be available as scheduled. Must successfully pass annual lifeguard water skills review test. Attend Pool Manager/Assistant Pool Manager training, gate monitor training, preseason training, and on‑site pool training. Must be 18 years of age or older and wear Department of Recreation staff swimwear.

Qualifications

Knowledge of

good customer service principles, water safety, lifeguarding, CPR and First Aid, pool maintenance, general administrative and management principles, personnel management, federal and state employment regulations, including EEO and ADA.

Skills

to train and administer ARC CPR/PR/AED/First Aid, coordinate multiple assignments, organize and prioritize tasks, analyze situations, work with minimal supervision, maintain confidentiality, speak effectively on the phone and in person.

Abilities

to implement American Red Cross skills to the highest standard, communicate clearly, take direction, understand instructions, establish effective working relationships, provide assistance incl. disability accommodations, write legibly, use English accurately, complete paperwork accurately, make sound judgments, follow safety rules, and identify and respond to issues.

Required Education & Experience

18 years of age or older.

Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training/First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certifications.

Minimum 80% proficiency on annual lifeguard water skills review test.

Preferred: current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor.

Other Requirements

Work with minimum supervision.

Attend all necessary training including Pool Manager/Head Guard, gate monitor, preseason, and on‑site pool training.

Wear Department of Recreation staff uniform and maintain unexpired certification.

Flexible schedule; may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
