Licensed Land Surveyor
role at
Boutique Recruiting .
A dynamic structural engineering firm is hiring a Licensed Land Surveyor to step into a critical, senior-level role as a long-tenured survey lead prepares for retirement. This role is ideally based in the office, with a strong preference for candidates who can work onsite in Rancho Cordova. That said, remote arrangements may be considered for the right candidate. Candidates must reside in California, as an active California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license is required for this position. This position is focused on technical surveying, mapping, and boundary resolution, not fieldwork. You’ll take ownership of complex survey deliverables, collaborate closely with field leadership, and serve as a steady technical anchor for a busy, private-development-driven practice. This role is built for a confident, self-sufficient California‑licensed surveyor who can plug in immediately, take full ownership of office survey work, and operate with minimal hand‑holding.
Salary $140,000 - $160,000 / Year DOE
Responsibilities
Prepare and review property boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way, and as-built surveys
Produce Final Maps, Parcel Maps, and Records of Survey
Perform aerial mapping control and GNSS post-processing (RTK and Static)
Process and analyze conventional and GNSS survey data
Resolve boundary and title matters independently
Develop proposal and exhibit maps in collaboration with field supervision
Support subdivision and commercial development projects
Ensure technical accuracy, compliance, and high professional standards across all deliverables
Requirements
Active California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license
5+ years of experience required; 10+ years strongly preferred
Deep experience in office-based surveying and mapping, not field roles
Proven expertise with boundaries, legal descriptions, and complex survey records
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
Ability to work independently and confidently without extensive training
Strong communication skills and professional client presence
Benefits
Discretionary bonus potential
100% employer-paid medical insurance for employees
Dental insurance coverage
Accrued PTO that increases with tenure
40 hours of paid sick time
Paid holidays
Flexible work hours within a standard 40-hour week
Extremely stable firm with long employee tenure and low turnover
Long-term growth potential, including a future VP-level path
This is a rare opportunity to step into a stable, respected firm, take over a well-established role, and build long-term security while maintaining real work-life balance. Apply now!
