Tool Maker | Mason, MI Salary Range:

$55,000 - $87,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity We are partnering with organizations in Mason that are seeking Tool Makers. These companies are committed to building strong teams and are looking for professionals who can lead initiatives effectively. Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and repair precision tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures.

Operate and maintain a variety of machine shop equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.

Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and CAD models to fabricate parts and assemblies.

Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot issues on existing production tooling.

Inspect finished tools and components for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications.

Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for optimal tool performance and longevity.

Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).

Ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

Skilled in using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMMs).

Strong understanding of various metals, alloys, and their properties, including heat treatment processes.

Proven experience as a Tool Maker or completion of a formal apprenticeship program.

Bonus Qualifications

Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)

Experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators)

Knowledge of heat treatment processes for various tool steels

Prior experience in tool design or DFM (Design for Manufacturability) principles
