Project Delivery Manager – 1898 & Co. – Transmission Planning & Power Systems Analysis (Texas – Houston/Austin/Dallas) Join the team as a Project Delivery Manager (PDM) role at 1898 & Co., an innovation‑driven consultancy within Burns & McDonnell. 1898 & Co. helps shape the future of transmission systems across North America.

The position will lead an execution team within our Transmission Planning & Power Systems Analysis business line, focusing on building strong teams and delivering high‑quality consulting services for utility clients.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

Provide leadership to the team; direct and coordinate work assignments and review performance to ensure efficient, cost‑effective utilization of staff.

Recruit, develop, train, and retain high‑performing staff.

Conduct performance evaluations, monthly one‑on‑ones, and provide clear instruction and guidance to direct reports.

Promote the Burns & McDonnell culture, values, and mission, along with 1898 & Co.’s traits: tenacious problem solvers, curious seekers, unselfish collaborators, and grit.

Interpret and communicate organizational goals and policies to staff.

Project & Resource Management

Provide expert‑level technical guidance and support for consulting engagements in transmission planning and power systems analysis.

Support profitable growth by ensuring staff levels, loading, and assignments meet project requirements and billable targets.

Coordinate workload for the team and communicate staffing needs to business line leads and managing directors.

Lead and support project QA/QC efforts.

Ensure compliance with company and safety policies.

Strategic & Operational Execution

Implement and support firm‑wide programs and initiatives; lead your team through organizational change.

Achieve stated financial targets and performance standards.

Collaborate with project managers, managing directors, and proposal teams to support business development and secure new work for the team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Business, or other related field and 5 years of related experience.

Previous leadership and/or management experience is preferable.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.

Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.

Strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.

Expertise in the use of computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

This job posting will remain open a minimum of 72 hours and on an ongoing basis until filled.
