Summary In addition to the duties of a Facility Maintenance professional, the Maintenance Technician I is responsible for the general maintenance and orderliness of the production facility and oversight of the maintenance systems to ensure optimal operations in accordance with department protocol. This role does not have direct reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Mizkan America safety policies, OSHA regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).
Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs.
Support, install, rebuild, and maintain all production equipment such as conveyor systems, gearboxes, and motors.
Perform routine maintenance per a set schedule as well as respond to unscheduled repairs in a safe and timely manner.
Complete simple fabrication of machine parts as required, and requisition repair parts as needed.
Follow standard procedures to monitor equipment for performance, safety, and effectiveness.
Maintain all equipment, tools, supplies in stock, inventory, and logs.
Work closely with production personnel or service technicians on equipment repairs.
Follow all safety rules to include but not limited to LOTO and keep area clean and in orderly condition.
Responsible for food product quality and safety.
Education
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
Trade‑school certification in a related field such as Industrial Electronics/Electricians Certification preferred.
Related courses through technical or trade schools, including in‑house training preferred.
Experience and Qualifications
1–2 years of related experience within a food processing, bottling, liquid filling/blending and/or consumer goods manufacturing/packing environment.
Experience with drill press, grinders, hand power tools, forklift, and a variety of hand tools.
Ability to braze, weld, and solder.
Knowledge and skills in plumbing, and basic electricity strongly preferred.
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new job‑related software.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy required.
Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Must be respectful and work well with all levels of personnel.
Must be able to perform on‑call duty on any shift and work overtime on short notice basis. Long‑term, temporary assignments to any shift may be required to maintain manufacturing processes.
Ability to work in high temperatures (hot or cold), working at heights and exposure to strong smells, dust, gases, fumes and chemical or require personal protective equipment.
Duties are performed with some exposure to noise, lubricants and chemicals.
May also work in areas that are confined, dusty and dirty or require personal protective equipment.
Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to see, sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, reach, bend, twist, ascend/descend.
Ability to pull, push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., 50+ lbs. with assistance.
