Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The Division of Academic Affairs provides leadership in developing and maintaining quality academic programs and support services that contribute to the achievement of the university’s mission. The division strives to be recognized as a student-centered university with emphasis on excellence in teaching, learning, and scholarly activities; commitment to total student development; and outstanding service and engagement with local, regional, national and global communities.
Description of Work
Provide college level guitar instruction per week.
Provide applied lessons in guitar performance.
Maintain and supervise the In-House Recording Studio.
Supervise students in the recording studio.
Work with other faculty and diverse community musicians to promote alternative, popular, and commercial music styles within the program and on campus.
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
18 hours of instruction on the graduate level in Guitar Performance (required).
M.M. in Guitar – Guitar performance or Jazz Studies in Guitar with college-level teaching experience (preferred).
Evidence of experience within the music industry and ability to teach music industry and/or music technology courses (required).
Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication with a wide range of individuals.
Commitment to excellence in student learning and ability to promote success in a multicultural and global community.
