Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently hiring an Assistant Housekeeping Manager for The Vanguard Hotel in Ann Arbor, MI.
Base pay range: $58,000.00/yr - $60,000.00/yr
Job Purpose:
Assist the Housekeeping Manager in maximizing customer satisfaction by ensuring guest rooms are neat and clean through supervision, direction, and coordination of the housekeeping team.
Responsibilities
Supervise room cleaners in the prompt and efficient housekeeping of guest rooms.
Verify cleaning completion by reviewing room cleaners’ worksheets.
Oversee completion of short‑notice requests for room changes.
Inspect all checkout and stay‑over rooms to ensure they meet company standards.
Maintain records of room checkouts and stay‑overs, and submit daily reports to housekeeping.
Conduct quality inspections of cleaned rooms and document results.
Prepare maintenance work orders for furniture, fixtures, and other repairs; follow up to ensure completion.
Monitor room status continuously and notify cleaners of any changes.
Check VIP and early‑morning make‑up rooms.
Coordinate cleaning priorities with front desk, engineering, banquet, and room services.
Maintain cleanliness of floor linen closets and ensure supplies are adequate.
Store carts properly and empty vacuum cleaners at end of day.
Assist with quarterly linen inventory and keep linen chutes locked at all times.
Coordinate housekeeping activities with other hotel departments to improve communication and guest satisfaction.
Support daily maintenance of room inventory to achieve optimal revenue while meeting guest expectations.
Assist in training and directing new department associates.
Qualifications and Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, or Hyatt processes and standards.
Ability to walk, stand, and move frequently; lift up to 15 lbs regularly and push/pull equipment up to 250 lbs occasionally.
Manual dexterity and operational skill with housekeeping equipment.
Strong written and verbal communication; excellent customer service orientation.
Basic math skills for handling cash or credit.
Problem‑solving, reasoning, motivation, and training abilities.
Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
Most tasks performed indoors under moderate, controlled temperatures.
Walking and standing required for close to 100% of the working day.
Ability to work in limited spaces and to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch regularly.
Good vision, hearing, and ability to listen and respond continuously to guests, supervisors, and subordinates.
