Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD)

program at the South College

Knoxville

campus. While relocation to Knoxville is encouraged, it is not required. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of the program by fulfilling the role of

OTD Full-Time Faculty.

We are searching for a team-oriented individual with excellent communication and organization skills. Assigned courses are based on faculty expertise and program needs. Applicants from all areas of occupational therapy will be considered. Expertise in curriculum development and assessment, student coaching, development of success plans, or research in higher education, and experience with online teaching and evidence-based pedagogical approaches is preferred.

All faculty report to the OTD Program Director. This is a non-tenure track faculty position. Requirements Education Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree, an academic doctorate in Occupational Therapy, or an academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DSc) in a related field Licensure Active Occupational Therapy license, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of Tennessee Experience Prior experience teaching in an ACOTE accredited Doctor of Occupational Therapy program A minimum of five years of full-time (or equivalent) post-licensure clinical practice Understanding of higher education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in Occupational therapy education Demonstrated expertise with online teaching using evidence-based pedagogical approaches to support student engagement and learning outcomes Able to travel overnight or for extended periods to Knoxville for lab and student events Strong interpersonal and communication skills Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching and working in an inclusive team environment Desired skills include: Knowledge of ACOTE accreditation standards Clinical experience in pediatric and/or acute care practice settings. Evidence of an active research and scholarly agenda. Current NBCOT Board registration or advanced professional certification Strong organizational and technology skills, and a willingness to adapt to changing assignments, multiple priorities, and deadlines. South College is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and who have demonstrated commitment to improving the levels of access and success for underrepresented students within higher education. Evidence of or potential for achieving excellence in teaching and project management. A commitment to interdisciplinary education in health sciences. Involvement as a member of a state/national/international professional association related to discipline.
