Job Title: IT Programmer Analyst, Principal - Trading Risk & Data Governance
Job Type: Long-term contract
We are seeking an experienced Principal Developer to lead the development, architecture, and implementation of advanced trading risk management solutions, with a strong emphasis on data governance, quantitative analytics, and proof-of-concept (POC) innovation. The ideal candidate will leverage modern technology platforms such as Beacon, CubeLogic, and Dataiku to deliver scalable, high-performance systems supporting trading, market risk, and analytical functions.
This role collaborates closely with trading, risk management, and quantitative analytics teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into robust, enterprise-grade technical solutions.
Lead the design, development, and deployment of trading risk management systems with a strong focus on data governance best practices.
• Architect and deliver POC solutions for quantitative analytics and market risk data processing.
• Build and integrate applications using Beacon, CubeLogic, and Dataiku to support trading operations and risk analytics workflows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical architectures.
• Develop data pipelines, ETL processes, and data quality frameworks ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of risk data.
• Establish and enforce data governance standards, policies, and procedures.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to drive innovative enhancements across trading risk systems.
• Ensure all solutions align with regulatory compliance requirements (CFTC, FERC, ETRM standards).
• Partner with enterprise stakeholders to deliver secure, high-performance, and scalable applications.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (Master's preferred)
• 8+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years in a senior or lead role
• Strong programming expertise in Java, Python, or similar languages
• Experience with trading systems, risk management platforms, or financial data systems
• Proven success architecting and delivering enterprise-level applications
• Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and MDM best practices
• Experience with modern data platforms (Dataiku highly preferred)
• Proficiency in SQL, relational databases, and NoSQL technologies
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Ability to interface effectively with both technical and business teams
Background in quantitative analytics, market risk, or trading operations
• Knowledge of energy trading markets and commodities
• Experience with machine learning and advanced analytics tools
• Familiarity with risk metrics such as VaR, Greeks, scenario analysis
• Understanding of regulatory frameworks (ETRM, CFTC, FERC)
• Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies
