Our team is small, tight-knit, and growing — and we’re looking for a hands-on Assistant Manager ready to help us scale.
Role Overview
The Assistant Manager is the heartbeat of daily operations — leading floor service, ensuring smooth front-of-house (FOH) execution, maintaining standards, and coaching the team. This role is ideal for someone excited by ownership mindset, fast-paced environments, problem-solving, and hospitality culture-building.
You will work directly with ownership to elevate the guest experience, manage FOH staff, support training, and maintain systems that ensure consistency and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Service Leadership & Floor Execution
- Lead pre-shift meetings, assign sections, and conduct service-readiness walkthroughs
- Maintain pacing, table touches, guest recovery, and overall flow of service
- Ensure cleanliness, atmosphere, and FOH standards (lighting, music, table setup, etc.)
- Handle guest escalations with professionalism and empathy
Team Management
- Coach FOH staff on etiquette, standards, menu knowledge, cocktail scripts, sales techniques
- Interviewing, onboarding, weekly schedules, and performance feedback
- Reinforce accountability, time entry management, and staff communication
Operational Support
- Oversee opening/closing checklists and nightly manager logs
- Toast POS troubleshooting, comps/voids, cash-out review
- Manage reservations flow, VIP notes, private-event coordination
- Assist in inventory counts, ordering, vendor communication (beverages, disposables, linens, etc.)
- Support DOHMH readiness, training requirements, temperature logs, safety & compliance
Culture & Brand
- Bring positivity, professionalism, and high standards
- Model restaurant’s unique service style — energetic, confident, friendly, non-stuffy
- Support events, promotions, and social-media-relevant guest moments
Qualifications
- 1 to 2+ years FOH leadership in NYC restaurants (shift lead, key holder, supervisor, or assistant manager preferred)
- Experience with Toast POS, Resy, or comparable systems
- Strong communication, emotional intelligence, and conflict-resolution skills
- Comfort working in a hands-on, owner-operator environment
- Ability to thrive in a busy, small-team setting
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, & holidays as needed
Compensation
- Full-time salaried: $55K - $62K
