About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President for University Advancement to provide a cohesive vision, leadership, and strategic direction for a successful university advancement strategy. The primary focus of this role is on comprehensive campaigns, major gifts, foundations, annual giving, planned giving, and development research. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the university-wide strategy surrounding alumni engagement, leading a team of approximately 25 development and alumni professionals, and ensuring that policies and procedures meet legal and CASE requirements. This executive will be tasked with developing and implementing a strategic alumni and donor engagement plan, managing a portfolio of major donors, and leading the division in annual fundraising production.
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree or equivalent education and experience, at least seven years of leadership experience in advancement, preferably in higher education, and a proven track record of success. Key responsibilities include leading the current comprehensive fundraising campaign, recruiting and leading a volunteer campaign team, and collaborating with the President and Cabinet for campaign strategy. The role requires extensive senior-level experience in advancement, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to inspire enthusiasm and collaboration. The candidate should have a solid awareness of higher education fundraising issues, knowledge of technical fundraising practices, and a strong commitment to customer service and community relations. Emotional intelligence, and exceptional communication skills are essential for this position, as is the ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders, including the Board of Trustees, the President, academic leadership, and the donor community.
