Position Title DBA / ETL Developer, Associate

Job Overview LCG is seeking a DBA / ETL Developer, Associate who will support Client’s ITAC by providing enterprise database engineering, ETL development, and data modernization services across mission-critical applications and data platforms. This role is responsible for maintaining data integrity, resolving production data issues, developing and optimizing ETL pipelines, supporting database modernization and migrations, and ensuring compliance with federal data governance, security, and audit requirements. The DBA / ETL Developer will work closely with application development teams, Enterprise Architecture, cybersecurity, analytics, and DevOps stakeholders to ensure reliable, performant, and traceable data solutions throughout the full SDLC in alignment with ITAC standards and delivery processes.

Key Responsibilities Database Engineering & Data Integrity

Provide

back-end database fixes for data errors , including root cause analysis, data correction scripts, and validation to restore data accuracy and integrity across environments.

Design, implement, and maintain

database objects

including tables, views, indexes, constraints, stored procedures, and functions in accordance with ITAC database standards.

Support

auditability and traceability

by ensuring database changes are documented, versioned, and recoverable in alignment with ITAC governance processes.

ETL Development & Data Integration

Design, develop, and maintain

ETL pipelines and integrations

supporting data ingestion, transformation, and outbound data delivery across internal and external systems.

Produce and maintain

ETL Design Documents

describing extract, transform, and load logic, data flows, mappings, error handling, and performance considerations.

Implement ETL solutions using approved ITAC tooling (e.g., SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent), supporting both batch and near-real-time data processing.

Develop and maintain

API-based data integrations , ensuring secure, reliable data exchange and alignment with enterprise integration patterns.

Performance Optimization & Query Tuning

Analyze database performance and implement

query optimization , indexing strategies, execution plan tuning, and schema improvements to meet performance SLAs.

Support

database performance testing , capacity planning, and tuning activities as part of release readiness and production validation.

Data Migration and Modernization

Support

data migration and transformation activities

for system modernization initiatives, legacy system replacements, and cloud or platform transitions.

Assist with

data model evolution , including conceptual, logical, and physical data models (CDM, LDM, PDM), and maintain associated data dictionaries.

Align database and ETL solutions with

ITAC data governance and modernization strategies , ensuring consistency with enterprise architecture guidance.

Schema Versioning & Change Management

Maintain

schema versioning and controlled database change management

using

Liquibase , ensuring repeatable, auditable deployments across environments.

Develop and manage DDL scripts stored in ITAC-approved repositories, supporting rollback, recovery, and controlled release execution.

Analytics, Reporting & Data Consumption

Support

analytics and reporting needs

by delivering clean, well-modeled, and performant data structures optimized for reporting and downstream consumption.

Collaborate with reporting and analytics teams to resolve data issues, optimize queries, and ensure data consistency across dashboards and reports.

Security, Compliance & SDLC Participation

Support cybersecurity and compliance requirements, including secure data handling, access controls, and support for RMF-aligned audit artifacts.

Participate in

Agile/SAFe ceremonies , contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, defect resolution, and PI execution.

Maintain database and ETL tasks, defects, and technical debt in

Jira , ensuring traceability to user stories and acceptance criteria.

Requirements NIH Experience preferred.

Experience

6–10 years

of hands‑on professional experience as a

DBA and/or ETL Developer

supporting enterprise systems.

3+ years

experience designing and supporting

ETL pipelines and data integrations .

3+ years

experience performing

database performance tuning and optimization

in production environments.

2+ years

experience supporting

data migration or modernization initiatives .

2+ years

experience working in a

regulated or compliance-driven environment

(Federal/Government preferred).

Education Bachelor’s degree preferred

in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).

Certifications

Database certifications (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or equivalent)

Data or cloud platform certifications (Azure/AWS/GCP)

Security or data governance certifications (nice to have)

Compensation and Benefits The projected compensation range for this position is $100,000 to $150,000 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
