Summer Camp at the JCCSF offers one-week to three-week sessions in both the traditional day camp and specialty camp settings for campers in grades K-10. Art focused Camps are in session June 1 – August 21. Our classic day camps feature arts & crafts, STEAM projects, and sports. Specialty camps include visual arts, nature exploration, musical theater, science and more.
The Song Leader Specialist will create, organize, and implement 1-week sessions of camp throughout the summer. The camps that the Song Leaderspecialist will be responsible for leading will include Songs and Stage. The Song Leader specialist will also be responsible for providing music-based programming to the Kinder and 1 st /2 nd grade campers throughout the summer when not facilitating the Songs and Stage program. Songs and Stage camp is offered for campers in grades 1 st and 2 nd grade campers for two weeks out of the summer. Campers will be lead in song and prepared for a small performance.
The ideal candidate should have strong classroom management skills and must be able to implement a well-rounded art curriculum for youth ages 6 – 11. They should also be able to use and demonstrate the usage of multiple techniques, styles, and mediums of art.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Organize and implement the Songs and Stage Camp curriculum which will include, but not be limited to the following:
Singing/Line memorization
Prop/craft making
Prepare for and deliver up to 12 weeks of camp programming, including creating supply lists, curriculum development and teaching daily lessons
Lead weekly Shabbat
Perform welcoming songs at the weekly camp check-in
Provide daily music-based programming to various camp groups
Support general counselors (when applicable)
Support camper drop-off and pick-up processes
Provide excellent customer service to camp families by communicating with them about their camper’s experience
Set-up camp room and cleanup daily
Practice personal leadership skills.
Set clear and consistent limits and resolve behavioral problems with assistance from supervisors.
Additional responsibilities as required.
REQUIREMENTS At least 1 year as an educator
Knowledge and ability to explain and facilitate age-appropriate activities and skills for elementary school-aged campers.
Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral.
Passion for music, informal education and youth programs.
Knowledge of summer camps preferred.
Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently.
Must have enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to improvise.
WORKING CONDITIONS Will be working directly with youth ages 5-13. Camps will take place on-site at the JCC. We will utilize spaces such as the Dance Studios and the individual Camp rooms.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Able to stand/dance/be active and enthusiastic when providing programing
STATUS HOURS
Up to 20 hours of prep work in the week of 5/26/2026
37.5 hours per week from 6/1/2026 – 8/21/2026
