Role overview An established and growing electrical contractor in the Dallas market is appointing a Chief Electrical Estimator to lead its preconstruction function into the new year. This is a senior leadership position with real authority, covering pricing strategy, estimating standards, and final ownership of all major bids. The role suits an estimator who understands that accuracy, discipline, and commercial judgment at preconstruction stage directly dictate project outcomes. This is not a title role. It is a hands on leadership position for someone trusted to set the bar, challenge numbers, and guide teams through complex electrical work across design build and plans and specs projects.

The client The client is a well capitalised electrical contractor with a strong regional footprint and a clear growth plan for its preconstruction group. They are actively investing in systems, people, and process, rather than relying on legacy approaches. Alongside this Chief hire, the business is also expanding its estimating team and is open to speaking with strong Estimators and Senior Estimators who want to align with a contractor building depth and long term structure in estimating.

This creates a rare opportunity for both senior leaders and high performing estimators to engage with the same organisation at different levels.

Key responsibilities Lead and manage the electrical estimating function across multiple project types Take final ownership of all estimates submitted, including validation, benchmarking, and risk review Develop, maintain, and control estimating databases, assemblies, and unit pricing Train and mentor Estimators and Senior Estimators, setting clear standards and expectations Produce and present conceptual and budget level estimates to clients Ensure accuracy and compliance of subcontractor and vendor pricing Support operations with change order pricing and preconstruction handover Maintain historical cost data to drive continuous improvement in accuracy

Requirements 7 plus years of electrical estimating experience within commercial or industrial construction Proven experience leading or overseeing estimating teams Strong working knowledge of NEC Chapters 1 through 4 High level proficiency with electrical estimating software and data driven pricing Comfortable operating in client facing environments Ability to work in a fast paced preconstruction setting with extended hours when required Commercial mindset with a strong grasp of risk, scope, and cost drivers
