Controller Position Summary The Assistant Controller is responsible for providing financial support to the Corporate Controller to ensure effective and accurate financial accounting and record-keeping operations while complying with the established policies and procedures. This role will be a key manager in maintaining the accounting records, supporting audits, and managing standard operating procedures for financial activities. She/he will provide financial oversight of the AR, AP, General Accounting, and Costing. Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and treasury Coordinate and manage in month-end and year-end close processes Oversight of the financial policies and procedures (SOP) to ensure compliance and accuracy Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures Manage the fixed asset accounting processes from CapEx to capitalization for the entire organization Responsible for cost accounting functions, develop and maintain costing process, review cost structure, and analyze manufacturing cost Perform the day-to-day processing of financial transactions to ensure that finances are maintained
Maintain the general ledger system in SAP, including all GL Account Accounts, Cost Centers, Account Groupings, Profit Centers, and Allocation mappings. Collaborate with Manager of FP&A on Accounting and Financial Reporting Oversee monthly invoicing and billing processes, including invoices, DR/CR memos, 3rd party invoicing Accounting accruals and reconciliations Oversight / payroll posting accounting treatment - Record weekly and Bi-weekly payroll posting entries and month-end accruals Treasury/banking management Oversight on tax – Sales and Usage tax and activity-based tax
Monitor accounting systems and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy Supporting external quarterly and year-end auditing activities Perform special projects and analysis assigned by the Controller and CFO Supervise and develop accounting staff; provide coaching and performance feedback Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory CPA/MBA is a plus Advanced Excel skills; ability to work with large data sets and financial models Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills Manufacturing and Cost Accounting Experience strongly preferred Strong ERP System Experience, preferably with SAP or other similar ERP systems Physical Demands and Work Environment: Work is performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to lift 50lb and must have knowledge of computers and be proficient in word and Excel.
