What we are looking for
We are looking for an independent, organized, full-time engineering technician to assist with the workload of diverse, challenging solid waste projects in our Great Lakes Region. You will follow regulatory requirements, standard operating procedures, SCS protocols, and be able to complete tasks and projects from management. You will report to the Project Engineer.
How you can make an impact
Operate and maintain equipment including calibration.
Maintenance activities such as greasing blowers, cleaning tanks, fusing pipe, and repairing pumps just to name a few.
Monitor landfill gas and maintenance of industrial environmental control systems.
Construction oversight.
Multi-media sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air) and reporting, as needed.
Field note preparation and documentation of daily activities.
Collect and evaluate/interpret scientific data;
Communicate observations and technical data verbally and in writing.
Perform work independently or as a team member in a productive and safe manner, adopting the principles of SCS' safety culture.
Qualifications
Experience with environmental fieldwork preferred. 1 year of experience is highly preferred.
Experience with mechanical systems and/or construction preferred.
Completion of (or willingness to complete) a 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
Perform fieldwork including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods of time required.
Ability to travel overnight for work outside of the SCS office, extended out of town fieldwork is required.
Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing required.
Pay Range USD $22.00 - USD $24.00 /Hr.
